An Autumn Journey into France, Spain and Portugal 2022
Travelling by Motorhome and Bicycle

A Summary of the Journey

Our Spring and Summer journey in the Balkans had consumed 53 of the Schengen allowance of 90 days in the previous 180. We has only 37 days left with no non-Schengen countries in which to extend the journey. In practice, the  motorhome journey lasted 40 days, 3 of them at sea or in the UK. In that time, our Dethleffs Sunlight motorhome carried us faultlessly for 2,058 miles (3,290 km), the average distance being 114 miles (182 km) between night stops. We stayed in 19 different places mainly in France and Spain, an average of 2.1 nights per place. The longest stay was 6 nights in St Eulali en Born, attracted by cycling in the vast pine forests of Landes de Gascogne.
