Autumn 2024: Overland to Greece by Motorhome & Bicycle
By September of this year we had but 60 days left of the second annual tranche of the Schengen Area's allowance: 90 days in any period of 180 days. The motorhome was MOT'd, serviced (both engine and habitation), taxed and insured, while Barry had a new Volt E-bicycle from Paul Hewitt in Leyland. His previous E-bike was showing signs of age and wear (who isn't?) after some 16,500 km in nearly 5 years of riding. Margaret also tried a new Volt E-bike but preferred her original 5-year-old model!
Our aim is the familiar roads, faces and places of the southern Greek Peloponnese, with a route to Harwich for the overnight ferry to the Hook of Holland, followed by an overland journey of some 2,000 miles (3200 km) through the Netherlands, Germany, Austria, Slovenia, Croatia, Serbia, North Macedonia and so into Greece.
Here are some captioned pictures of the cycle rides we are making along the way. Click on a picture to enlarge it and press Escape to end the viewing.
