On the Road in Greece: Motorhoming and Cycling from October into December 2024
Taking some 102 days to motorhome 5,800-mile (9300 km), this autumn-into-winter journey took us overland to and from Greece via the Balkan countries of Slovenia, Croatia, Serbia, North Macedonia, Albania and Montenegro.
Some 60 days and 1,630 of those miles (2610 km) were within Northern Greece and the Greek Peloponnese. Throughout, clear blue skies, little or no wind and warm temperatures were ideal for cycling the mountain chain and coastal fringes of the Greek mainland, using the motorhome as a movable base (and associated feast).
We write this in the Netherlands, in Otterlo in the hilly Hoge Veluwe National Park, poised to take with great reluctance the overnight ferry from Rotterdam to Hull. And then we wait at least 90 days for our next Schengen-permitted visit to what was once our very own continent!
